A study in enduring craft.

This project explores what it means to restore a heritage brand without erasing its history.

A study in enduring craft.

What happens when a brand doesn't need to be reinvented, only remembered?

This project explores what it means to restore a heritage brand without erasing its history.

This is not simply a printing company.
It's a workshop built on craftsmanship, precision, and permanence.

01. T H E L E G A C Y

Preserving craftsmanship in an age of convenience.

For Jorn & Lore, their core belief was:

Quality is remembered long after convenience is forgotten.

At it's core, this brand is rooted in:

careful workmanship

durable materials

the conviction that printed pieces should be made to last

Restoring, not reinventing

The challenge wasn't creating a new identity. It was deciding what deserved to remain.

This project centered around four guiding questions:

Which elements had become part of the company's legacy?

• Which additions had diluted that legacy?

• How do you make a heritage brand feel relevant without making it feel new?

• How do you honor tradition without becoming trapped by nostalgia?

The goal of this project wasn't to invent a new story. It was to uncover the one the company had been telling for generations — and ensure every visual decision reflected it.

03. T H E I D E N T I T Y

A visual language shaped by the workshop itself.

Rather than replacing the company's identity, the redesign focused on refining and strengthening the visual assets that already carried meaning.

The monogram became the foundation of the system.

Refined JL printer's mark

Heritage wordmark system

Editorial serif typography

Letterpress-inspired graphic details

Material-driven color palette

Archival textures and print ephemera

Every aspect was inspired by the materials already found throughout the workshop itself:

• lampblack ink • cotton rag paper • aged brass • walnut wood • oxblood leather • linen book cloth.

Together, they create an identity that feels tactile, authentic, and deeply connected to the craft.

Formed from the initials J and L, it also creates the silhouette of an I — subtly reinforcing the company's name as an Imprint House.

The typography draws from classic publishing traditions, favoring refined serif letterforms, generous spacing, and restrained ornament over decorative excess.

Key elements:

Bringing the identity back into the workshop.

Jorn & Lore's restored identity was designed to exist across:

Every touchpoint was meant to evoke craftsmanship worthy of preservation.

title pages and specimen books

embossed covers

wax seals and printer's stamps

workshop signage

a new website

editorial photography

social media storytelling

What it feels like to encounter this brand

Jorn & Lore celebrates the enduring value of making things carefully.

It feels like:

Every interaction is intended to leave the impression that quality isn't a luxury; its simply become uncommon.

discovering a beautifully preserved first edition

running your hand across embossed linen book cloth

the quiet rhythm of a century-old letterpress at work

the scent of ink, paper, leather, and walnut wood

holding something made to be kept, not discarded

A final reflection

It needed a clearer way to tell the one it had been living since 1887.

Because the strongest heritage brands aren't defined by how long they've existed.

They're defined by how consistently they've remained true to what they do best, and to their core belief:

"Quality is remembered long after convenience is forgotten."

Every design decision; from typography to packaging — was made to reinforce that idea.
